I believe we’re all doing the best we can with what we know in the moment. When we face trauma or hardship, the brain does a brilliant job of adapting to keep us safe, and it adopts whatever beliefs and behaviours are necessary to get us through. If you’re reading this, it’s likely that you’ve notice some of your own beliefs and behaviours holding you back from the life you really want to live. You are far from alone in this. Often, the beliefs and behaviours that keep us safe and functioning at one point in our lives stop being helpful, and may even start wreaking havoc on our ability to be the person we really want to be.
